PS019 – Lawton Street – widen pavement where double yellow lines

There are double yellow lines i.e. no parking at the traffic light end of Lawton St adjacent to the Beartown Cock.  This parking restriction is completely ignored outside traffic warden hours, and often at other times, thus reducing the road to one lane here.  Since the remainder of Lawton St is only one lane, there is no need to retain two lanes at the lights. Pavement widening here, from the pub towards the houses on the same side is an obvious continuation of the widening in the rest of the street for covid distancing.  If this small length of road is left as two lanes, with one taken up with parked cars, pedestrians will be funnelled onto a narrow pavement.
